MREC Assistant Site Coordinator:
As the the Assistant site coordinator of the MREC before and after school program I was able to work with a very diverse group of students. I created lessons and worked with the administration, teachers and parents. I was also in charge of scheduling, preparations, and book keeping.
Mission Trip to Denver:
On this mission trip I was given the opportunity to work with many different groups of people. One very eye opening experience was filling bags of food for the homeless.
Attended Temple Grandin at Jamestown University:
This was a very informative presentation put on by Temple Grandin. I learned a lot about people with autism.
Trust in Teens:
In high school I worked with at risk youth at a low SES school. I met with them once a week to tutor and act as a mentor.
Reading Interventionist through AmeriCorp:
I worked as a reading interventionist in a Title 1 elementary school. During this time I worked with students who were just below grade level and created interventions based on their needs. I worked with a very diverse group of students.
Respite Worker:
I have the privilege of working with a young girl who has autism. A couple times a month we get together and I take her out into the community where we practice social skills. I also act as a mentor to her.
